Pastor's Notes — Spiritual Nourishment September 24, 2009 Our bodies need food. Without it we become malnourished and weak. Should we go too long without food, we become unable to accomplish the tasks we must do each day. The same is true of our souls. Without spiritual food we become spiritually weak, susceptible to every temptation and unable to do the work God calls us to do. Where do we find our spiritual food? We find it in the Bible, the Word of God. The Bible reveals Christ, the Bread of Life and the Water of Life. Sometimes we skimp on nutricious food for our physical bodies and instead go for fast food, or even worse, junk food. When we come to the Bible we shouldn't find ourselves skimping. We shouldn't be content to skim through a passage merely to satisfy our conscience or because of some long-established habit. Instead, we should take our time, meditate on it, memorize it, hide it in our hearts so it permeates our whole being. A small portion well digested is of far greater spiritual value than a lengthy passage scanned hurriedly. Bro. Rob |
