Learn More — Youth

Youth fellowship is valuable time spent with one another. Young people who are in the 7th-12th grades meet to worship, study the Bible, do volunteer work, and have fun together. Sunday night fellowship begins with a lite snack followed by game time. Then we move upstairs to the youth room and have a 30-minute devotion followed by prayer time. Wednesday night fellowship starts off with a home-cooked meal eaten in a family-style atmosphere. Afterwards, we head upstairs to the youth room to study the Word of God and how it applies to everyday living.

Although God's Truth never changes, the way we study it does. From learning the history of classic hymns, to watching a video about hot teen topics and what the Bible says about them, to reading crazy stories in the Old Testament that you never knew existed, we always have fun discovering what's in the Bible. And if we have extra time leftover… more volleyball! Sunday and Wednesday night fellowships are in session all year long.

In addition to these weekly events, we also enjoy Spring and Fall weekend retreats and weekly Summer church camps where we spend time with other Cumberland Presbyterian youth from the middle Tennessee area. We have been known to visit local nursing homes, coordinate seasonal children's events, head up a "Gifts of Love" program (like an Angel Tree program) during the Christmas season, and volunteer to help keep our denominational cabin tidy at Montgomery Bell State Park. We also like to go whitewater rafting, attend Christian concerts, lock-ins, snow skiing, and much, much more.

We believe in a "group-effort." Youth, parents, and volunteers come together to help navigate youth activities throughout the year. We have a youth ministry committee consisting of adults and a youth representative which meets monthly to hammer out all the details. We are very blessed to be a part of a wonderful church family. Together, our youth program glorifies God, teaches young people Biblical truths and is living proof that having fun in a godly manner is the best fun anyone can have.
